Earlier last month, the entertainment industry took to France for the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. The beachside town was buzzing as features and short films premiered to the world, but there was one in particular that caught our eye: Chloe Sevigny’s White Echo.
Edited by Jay Rabinowitz, White Echo was entered in competition for the Short Film Palme d’Or alongside ten other films from around the world.
White Echo, which marks Sevigny’s third film as director, tells the story of a young woman named Carla whose mystical beliefs guide her through her existence—a topic and storyline that draws from both fact and fiction. While the short film has yet to be released, its haunting narrative and dreamy scenes captured in stills showcase the alchemic force of story, acting, direction, and editing coming together to captivate audiences.
